I highly recommend this internship if you are looking for hands-on from the very first day, Doctor Ricardo is amazing and always willing to teach and explain things, but you will be spending most of your day helping his vet assistant Karla, she is very kind and also very knowledgeable, also a great teacher, your host family are the sweetest persons you will ever meet, so you will be well taken care of, the only thing to be aware is that the room does not have an AC so if that is something that bothers you well just know it is always very very hot.
