Yes, we were provided with all the information, and thorough explanation of what to expect and how to reach the place. Janina has always been very responsive and always answered all our queries.

How was your accommodations and food at the project?
Our private accommodation was clean and had the basic furniture that you might need. Food was cooked for us once a day, and they respected our dietary requirements (vegetarian), and it was very tasty! We needed to prepare our breakfast and dinner, and they made available all sort of food for us, from a big variety of vegetables and fruit to cereal and pasta, plant based milk, etc.
How did you get along with the project coordinators and managers – do you feel like they gave you good guidance and support while on the project?
The project coordinators were always nice, like the rest of the staff at the centre. Sarah, the volunteer coordinator, was extremely helpful and very supportive.
Did you feel that you were a valuable asset to the project, and can you explain how so?
Yes, especially projects such as the butterfly garden where volunteers were asked to help with many tasks, such as transplanting, egg collection and cleaning the butterfly laboratory. Another project where the volunteers’ help was important was the turtle hatchery checking, which we needed to do every two hours and required a total of 45 minutes, therefore the team work of volunteers was very important.
Do you feel the volunteer project fulfilled your expectations and if so how?
Yes, it actually exceeded expectations for the variety of interesting activities we did, the amount of knowledge that was shared with us, the approachability of the staff and the nice, friendly environment.
