Hi everyone, let us introduce ourselves. We are the new interns of Green Life Volunteers. Our names are Thyrza (the blonde one) and Carlies (the curly hair). We are both Dutch students who are currently studying Bachelor Business with a degree on Vitality and Tourism Management. We both wanted to do our internship abroad, because we think that going abroad will develop yourself more than in your comfort zone. We arrived this Tuesday in San Jose, and we just met the Costa Rican rainy season (this made us feel like home). The next day we started our road trip to Puerto Jimenez together with Janina, the founder and manager of Green Life Volunteers, and her friends. During this road trip we discovered the beautiful nature and culture of Costa Rica. We already fell in love with the country. However, the beautiful nature has his downside, because we are not used to the insects. But they say, you just have to get used of it so we will be fine.
“I have not done a study or internship abroad yet, so when I got the opportunity to go to Costa Rica I did not have to think about it twice. Besides working, I will also do a research for my thesis. Last year I did my minor ‘Branding’ and I am very excited to combine this course with my project for Green Life Volunteers. I will research possible collaborations between Green Life Volunteers and other organizations, so Green Life Volunteers can grow. Besides my internship I hope to discover the beautiful nature and culture of Costa Rica”. – Carlies
“Last year I studied abroad in Canada and traveled in the USA. I liked it so much that I immediately knew when I got the change, I would do it again. During this internship I will work at the office but I will also do research for my thesis. My research is about the projects that Green Life Volunteers offers and what could be improved to recruit more volunteers. I hope that I can visit all the projects that Green Life Volunteers offers because I am very curious and want to learn more about Green Life Volunteers, Costa Rica and the sustainable lifestyle.” – Thyrza
We are very excised to start with this internship and to work together with Janina. We hope our blogs will make you curious about Green Life Volunteers and our Costa Rican experience, because we will keep you updated through this blog.
Pura Vida!
